Lawrence Edward Brothers Obituary

Lawrence "Chubby" Edward Brothers, 76, of 2201 Leacock Road, Waterford, Pa., passed away on Saturday, March 15, 2014 at the Edinboro Manor, in Edinboro, Pa. He was born on July 27, 1937 to the late Lee Andrew Brothers and Wilsia Mae Davis.

A resident of Erie area most of his life, Lawrence attended Strong Vincent High School before enlisting in the United States Navy, where he would serve proudly before retiring after 20 years of service, as a E6 Petty Officer. After the Navy he would dive into the work force for the U.S. Government, in the civil service field, before retiring after 25 years of service on the job.

He loved the upkeep of his yard and property, gardening, his family, his wife, and was known as the family handyman.

Besides his parents, Lawrence was preceded in death by his brothers David and Grover Tangle and four sisters, Barbara Jean Williams, Donna Mae Hamilton, Jacqueline Tangle and Brenda Clayton.

Lawrence leaves to cherish his memory his wife of almost 54 years, Ruthie Mae Thomas Brothers, a daughter, Yvonne Denise Carson of Erie; two brothers, Lee Andrew Brothers of Sacramento, Calif. and Charles (Mary)A. Brothers of Erie; ten sisters, Maxine (Glenn) Fox, Geneva Brothers, Gloria Jean Mims, Paulette Tangle, Claudette (Bob) Cooley, Bonnie Atkinson, Doreen (Albert) Logan, Deloris Reed and Lynette Williams, all of Erie. One grandchild, Demetria "Dee Dee" Carson, four great-grandchildren; Daryl, Donta, Dashara, Desaray and an additional 13 great-grandchildren, along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends also survive.

Friends may visit with the family on Thursday March 20th from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Law Funeral Home, 2926 Pine Ave., and a funeral service there on Friday, March 21st at 1 p.m., with the Rev. Owen Rhodes officiating. Burial will be at Lakeside Cemetery, with full military honors. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Law Funeral Home, 2926 Pine Ave., Erie.
