Mary Ellen McClain Hollobaugh of Edinboro, Pa., died peacefully at home on the morning of June 19, 2013. She was born May 16, 1920 in Hughesville, Pa., the daughter of the late Martha E. Opp and H. Curtis McClain. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Walter W. Hollobaugh; two brothers: Nyle E. McClain and James C. McClain and two sisters: Ruth O. McClain Ferree and Sara S. McClain. She is survived by a son, Walter W. Hollobaugh, Jr. of Berrien Springs, Mich..; one daughter, Sara A. Hollobaugh of Edinboro, Pa. and two grandchildren: Joshua E. and Ashleigh C. Hollobaugh of Berrien Springs, Mich. Mary Ellen was a graduate of Mill Hall High School, Mill Hall, Pa. and a 1942 graduate of Penn State University. She did extension work in Lawrence County after graduation from Penn State and then lived for a short time in Wesleyville prior to moving to Edinboro. She taught Home Economics at the Edinboro High School as well as Northwestern High School, the Spartansburg School District and had closed out her teaching career in the Corry School District. She was a leader of a 4-H Club in the early 1960's. Mary Ellen was a member of the Franklin Center United Methodist Church and was also a past President of the Edinboro Garden Club. She was a loving mother and grandmother. Always ready with a smile, she was a wonderful listener for her friends and family. Mary Ellen loved to cook, read and garden and had a keen interest in local, state and national events and news. She enjoyed watching her flowers grow and bloom as well as knitting and sewing. She added her special touch to many weddings held at the Franklin Center United Methodist Church as well as other church functions. No visitor ever left her home without her watching until they were out of sight. She will be missed by her family and all that knew her. Friends may call at the Dusckas Funeral Home, Inc., East, 2607 Buffalo Rd., today (Friday, June 21) from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. and are invited to attend the Funeral Service there on Saturday at 10 a.m. conducted by the Rev. Brian Moran, Pastor, Mount Calvary Lutheran Church. Interment Shannondale-Union Cemetery in Mayport, Pa.
