Michael Hasney, age 93, of Erie, died Saturday, April 27, 2013. Born in Klenova, Czechoslovakia, August 18, 1919, he was the son of the late Charles and Maria (Petrovay) Hasney. Michael was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served during WWII. He was a machinist at G.E. Transportation, where he worked for over 40 years. He was a member of St. James Church, American Legion Post 571 and the Zukor Club. He enjoyed playing cards, being outside and gardening. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Irene (Wardanski) Hasney, who died in 2007. Survivors include two daughters, Renee Sitter, husband Paul, of Tucson, Ariz. and Nadine Schultz, husband Larry, of Erie; four granddaughters, Harriet and Hannah Sitter and Lara and Caitlin Schultz. Friends are invited to call at Brugger Funeral Homes & Crematory, Pine Avenue Branch, 845 E. 38th St., Monday from 2 to 6 p.m. and to attend prayers there Tuesday at 9:30 a.m., followed by a Funeral Mass at St. James Catholic Church at 10 a.m. Burial will be at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
