Neal E. Wright Obituary
Neal E. Wright, 85 of Girard, died Wednesday, November 28, 2012 at Fairview Manor. He was born July 29, 1927 in Youngstown, Ohio, a son of the late Orin and Erma (Peterson) Wright. Neal enlisted in the U.S. Coast Guard at the age of 16 during WWII and served in the Great Lakes, Atlantic Ocean, the Mediterranean Sea and Greece. Following his discharge from the military he was active in the Merchant Marines for three years. Neal returned to Girard and worked for General Electric and at Wolfe Metal Products in Lake City for 17 years, first as a machinist, then in quality control. Most recently he worked in quality control at RP&C Valve, retiring in 1987. Neal was a charter member of the Bethel Assembly of God in Girard, where he also held many positions, including pastor, when the church first opened its doors. He loved fishing, sunny afternoons and spending time in the great outdoors. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two sisters, Betty Wright in infancy and Evelyn Rae Godfrey. He will be deeply missed by his wife of nearly 61 years, Myra Passmore Wright; his daughter, Miriam R. Youschak and her husband, Al of Cranesville; his son, Mark D. Wright and his wife, Ruth of Girard; a brother, Paul J. Wright of Clarksville, Tenn.; and his granddaughter, Crystal M. (Wright) Cornelius and her husband, Thomas of Kiel, Germany. Friends may call on Friday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Daniel R. Edder Funeral Home, 309 Main St. East, Girard. Services will be held on Saturday at 10 a.m. at Bethel Assembly of God Church, 1414 Lake St., Girard, PA 16417 with Rev. Marty Critchfield officiating. Burial will be in the Girard Cemetery.
