Newton DeWitt Tait, Jr., age 59, of Erie, passed away on Saturday, August 9, 2014 at St. Vincent Hospital. He was born November 29, 1954 in Erie, son of Lorayne Grover Tait Langer of Erie, and the late Newton D. Tait, Sr.
Newton was a 1972 graduate of East High School. He had been employed by Hercules (formerly R D & D) for over 20 years. He had also been previously employed by the former Lawson's Convenience Store with his father. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of the Elks (B.P.O.E.) No. 67 in Erie. Newton enjoyed playing guitar and video poker, travelling and wintering in Florida. He was a very gentle man who was beloved by his family and friends.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his loving soul-mate and wife, Beverly A. Camp Vanstone Tait; his daughters: Heather and Stacey; a grandson, Dylan; one sister, Diane Fitzgerald of Ormond Beach, Fla.; two brothers: Terry Tait of Erie and Shawn Tait of Brunswick, Ohio, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends may call at the Dusckas Funeral Home, Inc., 2607 Buffalo Rd., on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and are invited to attend the Funeral Service there on Wednesday at 11:00 a.m., conducted by the Rev.
