Nicholas "Nick" Peterson, age 68, of Erie, died Friday, December 27, 2013, at the Erie VA Medical Center. Born in Kane, Pa. on October 24, 1945, he was a son of the late Samuel and Elizabeth (Schultz) Peterson.

During the Vietnam War, he served with the U.S. Navy. He was a fireman with the City of Erie Fire Department for 23 years, and retired with the rank of Lieutenant. Nick coached Boys Baseball for 10 years, and was an avid Green Bay Packers fan.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Debbie Russo; and a brother, Gary Peterson. Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Barbara A. (Klutz) Peterson; a son, Chris Peterson, wife, Terri, of Erie; a daughter, Samantha Bratton, husband, Brian, of Erie; and a grandson, Zachary Bratton.

Arrangements are under the direction of Brugger Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1595 West 38th Street at Greengarden Boulevard. No calling hours will be observed. Friends may attend a Funeral Mass Monday at 1:30 p.m. at Blessed Sacrament Church, West 26th Street at Greengarden Boulevard. Burial will be private at Calvary Cemetery.
