Paul Vargulich, age 86, of Erie, passed away Thursday, January 9th, 2014 at St. Vincent Health Center. He was born in Platea, Pa. on June 10, 1927, a son of the late John and Eva Hotra-Vargulich.
Paul served in the U.S.Army during World War II
. He was employed as a blast furnace foreman with Interlake Steel Co. in Erie until transferring to Chicago, working for J & S Steel, which later became LTV Steel Corp. He was a member of the Siebenbuerger Club and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and especially spending time with family.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn M. Vargulich, October 3, 2000; three brothers and six sisters.
Survivors include his daughters, Darlene (Arthur) Zeiber and Colleen Weeden of Erie, Laurene (Larry) Bultema of Lansing, Illinois, and his son David (Barbara) Vargulich of Erie. Paul is further survived by six grandchildren; Art Zeiber, Jr., Aaron (Colleen) Zeiber, Jack and Ian Weeden; Justin and Caitlin Radick; and great granddaughters, Liliana Zeiber, Bridgett Howard, and Aileen Kasper. Many nieces and nephews also survive.
Friends may gather at the Brugger Funeral Homes & Crematory, LLP, Pine Avenue Branch, 845 East 38 Street, Wednesday January 15, from 5 p.m. until the time of a service at 8 p.m. Burial will be private in Laurel Hill Cemetery.
