Robert Andrew DeDad, age 74, passed away in his sleep at his home on Sunday, December 15, 2013. The cause of death was a heart attack. He had been living in Norristhorpe, West Yorkshire, England for the past seven years.
Robert was born in Erie, Pa. on December 9, 1939, the son of Leonard and Jennie DeDad, who preceded him in death. He attended Roosevelt Jr. High and Erie Cathedral Prep schools. He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force
, proudly serving his country for four years. Prior to retiring from working for the U.S. Government for 30 years, Robert was Chief of Employment for the National Security Agency.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Rosemarie DeDad Villa; nephew, John DeDad, Jr.; and brother-in-law, Al Sachs.
He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Jean Walton DeDad; son, Andrew DeDad and daughter, Cara DeDad Witmer, both of Rockville, Md.; step-daughter, Mandi McOear and husband, Adrian of Norristhorpe, West Yorkshire, England; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
He is also survived by sister, Camilla (Dolly) DeDad Sachs of Erie, Pa.; brother, John DeDad and wife, Virginia of Shelton, Conn.; nieces, Dara DeDad of Erie, Pa. and Carla Villa Lalley and husband, John, of San Clemente, Calif.; nephew, William (Billy) Villa, Jr. of Washington, D.C.; and many cousins.
A private service was held on December 27th in England, where his remains were buried. Memorials may be made to the
or to St. Paul's R.C. Catholic Church, Erie, Pa.
