Robert J. "Bones" Marz, age 86, of Erie, died at his residence, Tuesday, April 1, 2014. He was born in Erie, November 14, 1927, the son of the late Leo and Rose Schillinger Marz.

Bob graduated from East High School, class of 1945. He began his career with the Post Office as a clerk, moved to Supervisor, then as Post Master with the North East Office. He was a life member of St. Mary's Club and the former East Erie Turners, a member of the Foresters' Club, Holy Trinity, Elks Club, Moose Lodge and the Sportsman Athletic Club. Following his retirement from the Post Office, Bob worked for Brugger Funeral Homes for some 20 years. He was a diehard Cleveland sports fan.

He was preceded in death by his wife Betty Jo (Pruchniewski) Marz, March 5, 2012, as well as a brother, William Marz.

Survivors include two daughters Rosemary Niebauer (Bernard) of Meadville, Pa.; Helen Titus (Robert) of Penfield, N.Y.; one son Robert L. Marz (Gerrie) of Erie; eight grandchildren, Amanda Dunn (Greg), Elizabeth Kuhn (David), Christopher Marz (Mary), Joel Marz (Anne), Rachel Stetler (Adam) and Daniel Marz; Sam and Katie Titus; seven great-grandchildren, Riley, Erin, Jack, George, Mason, Liam and Owen; one sister, Catherine Gdaniec of Erie and a brother James Marz of Erie, as well as several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at Brugger Funeral Homes & Crematory, Pine Avenue Branch, 845 East 38 St., on Friday from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m., and may attend services there on Saturday at 9:30 a.m., followed by a Funeral Mass at Holy Rosary Church at 10 a.m.

Burial will follow in Mary Queen of Peace Cemetery.
