Robert J. Langer, age 75, of Erie, died Tuesday, February 18, 2014, at Saint Vincent Health Center, Erie, Pa., surrounded by his loving family.
He was born in Erie, August 9, 1938, a son of the late Frederick and Gertrude Thomas Langer.
Prior to his retirement in 2007, Bob was employed at Custom Engineering Co., for 44 years. He was proud of the fact that he was the longest serving employee at the time he retired. Bob enjoyed hunting and fishing, and spending time with his grandchildren. He loved the outdoors, dancing and listening to Elvis Presley. His achievements include winning the Brothers Bowling League Championship, and helping with the Young Marines organization in Erie. He was a member of the Erie Elks Lodge
#67, where he enjoyed playing bingo and socializing with friends.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Beverly Ananea, and brothers, Don, Fred, Chuck, Gerald and Raymond Langer.
Survivors include his loving wife of 50 years, Selma A. Gulnac Langer, of Erie; one son, Kevin (Jen) Langer, of Edinboro; one daughter, Sonja (Scott Sr.) Bayle, of Edinboro; grandchildren, Ashley, Logan, Joseph, Scott Jr., Alexis, Tyler, Katelynne, Abigail and Grayson. He is also survived by brothers, Len, Rich and Hank; sisters, Jane, Geraldine, Gert and Dorothy; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends may call at Brugger Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1595 W. 38th Sreet, at Greengarden Boulevard, Thursday from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m., and may attend a funeral service there Friday at 11 a.m., with Rev. Roy Washill, pastor of St. John Lutheran Church, officiating. Military honors will be conducted at the funeral home, after the service.
