Robert P. "Bob" Urraro Obituary

Robert P. "Bob" Urraro, age 75, of Millcreek Township, passed away Saturday, March 1, 2014 at Millcreek Community Hospital, after a long and courageous, six-year battle with many illnesses, with his family by his side. Bob was born in Erie October 9, 1938, a son of the late Gaetano and Antoinette Berarducci Urraro.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving from 1961 through 1963. Bob was a police officer with Millcreek Township for 34 years, the last nine years of which he was the Animal Control Officer, retiring in 1999. He was an avid hunter, enjoyed cars and guns, and spent many enjoyable hours working in his large garden.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Frank, Cajetan and Patrick Urraro, and three sisters, Rose Sopp, Lucy Lyons and Mary Silver.

Survivors include his beloved wife of 49 ½ years, Diane (Vash) Urraro; beloved daughter, Dr. Laurie Urraro-Savoy and her husband Howard, of Erie; three sisters, Antoinette Bliley, and her husband Richard, of Erie, Dolores Serra of Grosse Pointe Park, Mich. and Donna Simas of Franklin, Mich., many cousins, nieces and nephews also survive. Bob will be sadly missed and remembered by all who knew and loved him.

Friends are invited to call at Brugger Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1595 West 38th Street, at Greengarden Blvd., Wednesday from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Services will be Thursday at 10:00 a.m., followed by a funeral mass at Our Lady Of Peace Church at 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow at Laurel Hill Cemetery, with full military honors.
