Robert Smillie, 88, of Harborcreek, passed away at his residence on Monday, June 9, 2014. He was born in Erie on May 2, 1926, a son of the late William and Susan Smith Smillie.

Robert was a 1944 graduate of East High School and went on to serve in the United States Army during World War II. He worked as a machine operator at American Meter for 20 years before retiring in 1988. He was a member of the Moose Club in Harborcreek and was an avid golfer and bowler.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife of over 50 years, Winifred Boyd Smillie and two brothers, John Smillie and William Smillie, Jr.

Survivors include his children, Robert A. Smillie of Harborcreek, Winnie Forestiere of Erie, Nancy Smillie of Erie, and Martin Smillie of Pittsburgh; one grandson, Timothy Smillie; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral arrangements were made by the Russell C. Schmidt & Son Funeral Home Inc., 5000 Wattsburg Rd., Erie, PA 16504. Services and burial are private and at the convenience of the family.
