Ronald Allen Larson, age 78 of Edinboro, Pa., died 12/25/2012. Ron was born in Ashtabula, Ohio by his parents A. G. and Lucille Larson. He was a proud graduate of The Ohio State University (B.S. in Geology). Ron obtained subsequent degrees from Baldwin Wallace (teaching), University of Florida (Masters of Education) and SUNY at Buffalo (Doctor of Education). He taught for 30 years at Edinboro State University in the Earth Science Department serving as Department Head on several occasions. Ron married three times. First to Jean Larson (nee McElroy) in 1958. That marriage resulted in three daughters; Julie, Estero, Fla.), Jill, Baden, Pa., and Jaye Edinboro, Pa. Second to Vicki Firth in 1982 producing a son and daughter; Reid, Winston-Salem, N.C. and Dayna, Boulder, Colo. Ron married Hillis Larson in 2002. Ron demonstrated dedication to the town where he lived for more than 40 years by serving on the Zoning Commission of Washington Township and on the school board for the General McLane School District. On the social scene, Ron had a reserved seat at TeRay's and bowled regularly on Monday nights. Ron enjoyed fishing, golfing, and gardening . For many years, Ron enjoyed a second home in Marshallberg, N.C. Truly a "gentleman farmer" Ron delved deeply into rearing many different animals (many locals were the recipients of fresh Thanksgiving turkeys), raised the barn that housed them. Ron is survived by his five children; son-in law Mark Hanish; two ex-wives, current wife; sister Nancy Davis; and brother-in-law Robert Davis, Ashtabula, Ohio; and grandchildren Cole Johnson, Mica Hanish and Leuca Hanish.
