Ronald C. Bauer, age 59, of Franklin Township, unexpectedly passed away on Saturday, March 19, 2011, at St. Vincent Health Center. Born July 25, 1951 in Erie, he was the son of Helen Jelinek Bauer and the late Bernard Bauer. Ron was a self employed inspection mechanic for many years. He was currently the president of the Sacred Heart Ushers Club and a member of VFW Post 740. He was a founding and life member as well as the past assistant chief at the Franklin Township Volunteer Fire Department. He was very active in the fundraising activities there. Ron enjoyed gardening, was a NASCAR fan, and liked spending time with his dog, Balto. Above all, he loved his children and grandchildren. Besides his father, he was preceded in death by a sister, Judy Miller. Survivors include his mother, Helen Jelinek Bauer; his companion, Linda Wilson; three daughters, Jennifer Pinzok, husband, Philip, of Erie, Kristen Bauer, companion, Michael Fisher, of Williamsburg, Va., and Amanda Bauer, fiancé, John Shchouchkoff, of Erie; two sons, Michael Bauer, wife, Melissa, of Erie, and Joseph Bauer, companion, Lindsay Hollabaugh, of McKean; his former spouse, Charmaine Bauer of McKean; two step-children, Shawn Wilson of Pittsburgh and Angela Wilson of Erie; four grandchildren, Jonathan and Emily Bauer, Lilly Pinzok, and Madison Shchouchkoff; five sisters, Bonnie Williams of Erie, Mary Plesscher, husband, Bill, of Michigan, Debbie Caldwell, Patty DiNicola, husband, Steve, Sue Sexauer, husband, Dan, and Lori Smith, husband, Matt, all of Erie; four brothers, Larry Bauer, wife, Mary Beth, of Steubenville, Ohio, Bernie Bauer, wife, Mary Jane, Donald Bauer, his twin, both of Erie, and Gary Bauer of Columbus, Ohio; a brother-in-law, Dan Miller of Kingman, Ariz.; many nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive. Friends may call on Tuesday from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Brugger Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1595 West 38th Street at Greengarden Boulevard and may attend services there on Wednesday at 11 a.m. Memorials may be made to the Franklin Township Volunteer Fire Department.
