Shirley Jean (Laase) Skellie Kikola, age 84, of Eastlake Woods and formerly of 12 Faucette Court in McKean, passed away on Saturday, October 19, 2013 at Millcreek Community Hospital with family by her side. She was born in Girard, Ohio on July 11, 1929 a daughter of the late Edward M. and Dorothy Etta (Higgins) Laase.
Shirley had worked as a cook at St. John the Baptist Church and St. Frances Xavier Church. She had been a foster parent for Children International. She was a member of St. Frances Xavier Church and their Sunshine Circle. She was a member of the VFW
3390 Auxiliary and American Legion 771 Auxiliary.
She was preceded in death by her first husband James Skellie, her second husband Joseph Kikola and a sister Joyce Hetzel.
Shirley is survived by her son James Skellie, wife Laurie of Erie, her daughter Kathy Maydak of Erie; five grandchildren, Sean Skellie, wife Monica, Brian Skellie, wife Shannon and Beth Skellie Lindell, husband Corey, John Maydak and Chrysten Maydak; and four great grandchildren, Alexandra Kanash, Trevor Skellie, Mason Skellie and Alexander Lindell. She is also survived by three sisters Marge Wasser, husband Holly of East Springfield, Betty Fairchild of Erie and Ruth Sheldon of Erie.
Friends are invited to call on Thursday from 4 p.m. until the time of a service at 6 p.m. with Rev. Mark Nowak at the Brugger Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1595 West 38th Street at Greengarden Blvd. Burial in Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
