Walter J. Kala, Jr., age 70, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, February 13, 2014. He was born in Erie on September 22, 1943, a son of the late Walter Sr. and Frances (Osiecki) Kala.
Wally was a graduate of East High School, Class of 1962. After graduation he enrolled into the apprentice course at General Electric and remained working there for 37 years in the tool and die shop. He was a member of the Summit Seniors and a member of the Moose Club
. In his spare time, he loved to golf, play pool, and play cards. Wally enjoyed spending time with his family at family functions and picnics. He especially loved spending time with his three grandchildren.
He is survived by two sons, Kevin S. Kala, wife Kerry, of Erie and Kenneth P. Kala, of Kittanning, Pa.; a daughter, Rachel M. Kala of Erie; three grandchildren, Kaitlyn Alice, Kara Joan, and Kelsey Ann, all of Erie; two sisters, Irene E. Anderson, husband Richard, of Lancaster, Pa. and Kathy K. Dyke, husband Thomas, of Erie; two nephews, Eric Anderson, wife Carrie and Jeff Anderson, wife Andrea; a niece, Jen Enterline, husband Dave; his Goddaughter, Mary Osiecki Ergen; and good friends, Nancy Olszewski and Ronald Olszewski, Sr.
Friends are invited to call on Monday from 6 to 9 p.m. at Brugger Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1595 West 38th St. at Greengarden Boulevard. Services will be held there on Tuesday at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
