Warren D. Bort, age 77, of East Springfield, Pa., was called home on Sunday evening, March 23, 2014, at his home, surrounded by his family. Warren was born in West Springfield, Pa., on February 1, 1937, the son of the late Donald H. Bort and Dorothy (Rounds) Rutherford.

He retired from the Erie Forge and Steel, where he worked as a Machinist for many years, and had previously worked at the Girard Model Works. He was a member of the Federated Church in East Springfield.

Warren, known to many as "Sheny," enjoyed life to the fullest. He was a member of the Conneaut Moose Lodge #408, the Girard American Legion, and the West Springfield VFW Post #4965. He enjoyed hunting, gardening, camping, was an avid sports fan of the Browns and Indians, and enjoyed traveling with his wife, Myra.

Besides his parents, Warren was preceded in death by three brothers.

Warren is survived by his wife, Myra J. (Van Tassel) Bort, whom he married on January 7, 1956. He is also survived by two daughters: Vicki M. Armstrong and her husband, Raymond of Albion, Pa., Holly K. Fails and her husband, Bill of Girard, Pa., and a son, Robert L. Bort and his wife, Judy of East Springfield, Pa. He is further survived by two sisters and two brothers: Chris Fredrickson and her husband Bill of Washington and Jackie Hatmaker and her husband, Tom of Ashtabula, Ohio, Terry Bort of Kingsville, Ohio and Ted Bort of Texas. He is also survived by seven wonderful grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren.

Friends and family are invited to call at the Jean Evans Thompson Funeral Home, at 11883 Main Street, East Springfield, Pa., on Thursday, March 27, 2014 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., and are invited to attend Life Celebration Services there on Friday at 11 a.m., with Pastor Ed Huntley, of the Federated Church, officiating. Burial will be in Springfield Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to either the Springfield Volunteer Fire Dept., P.O. Box 76, East Springfield, Pa., or to the Regional Home and Health Hospice, 3526 Peach Street, Erie, PA 16508.
