Wayne L. Lillie, 88, of Erie, Pa. passed away on August 18, 2013.

The funeral service will be held at Bethel Baptist West Church, 1781 West 38th St., on October 12th, at 11 a.m. The interment will immediately follow at Lakeside Cemetery, 1718 East Lake Rd. A wake will be held back at the church following interment. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to Second Harvest Food Bank at 1507 Grimm Dr., Erie, PA 16501.

Wayne was born in Springcreek, Pa. on June 30th, 1925. Wayne served his country honorably during WWII. He entered into the Navy March 4th, 1944. Attending Purdue University for Electrician's training, Wayne earned the rank of Electrician's Mate 3rd Class while serving on board a Submarine responsible for the waters of Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.

Upon returning from service, Wayne graduated from High School and married his first love, Betty M. Bowes. Wayne faithfully loved and served his bride for 45 years until her lamentable passing. During his career, Wayne worked for GE and Hayes Manufacturing. He served his community as a Boy Scouts troop leader, Sunday school teacher and much more! Lord willing, his principled living of family, faith and service will always resound.

Wayne is preceded in death by father Roy and mother Bessie, wife Betty, his six brothers and sisters and grand daughter Tina. Wayne is survived by his four children, 12 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren.

Wayne's children include: Wayne W. (Kimmy Jones), Howard and Sophie, Mark, Alice and Keith Rice. His grandchildren are Jon, Shana, Nathan, Howard and Michelle, Tina, Allison and Rob Adams, Michael, Tom, Patty, Keith (Cheri), Kristie, and Dave McCarthy. His grateful family remembers Dad and Grandpa as loving, honorable, principled, faith guided and service driven.
