Loving Husband, Father, Grandfather and Great Grandfather. Leonard Emberg, 84, of Union City, Pa. passed away on Monday, February 27, 2012 at St. Vincent's Hospital, Erie, Pa. surrounded by his loving family. Leonard was born in Punxsutawney, Pa., the son of the late Oscar and Liza (Chapman) Emberg. He attended Punxsutawney School System and then served in the United States Navy as a Seaman First Class, during World War II. He was retired from Barnes Group, Raymond Manufacturing, Corry, Pa. He was a member of the Eureka Lodge, F. and A.M. #366, and the American Legion, LeBaron Post, 237, both of Union City, Pa. and also a member of the First United Methodist Church of Union City, Pa. Leonard was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He was married Darlene Ballog on November 4, 1948, at the First United Methodist Church in Union City, Pa. They celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary this past year. Besides his parents, Leonard was preceded in death by a sister Ellen Jane Gaston and a brother Eugene Emberg. Survivors include his wife Darlene Emberg, a daughter, Darlene Eddy (Gerald) and a son Leonard Eric Emberg (Barbara) all of Union City, Pa., a granddaughter, Crystal Eddy of Ashtabula, Ohio, and two grandsons, Andrew Emberg (Mary) and Casey Emberg all of Arizona, and a great grandson Aiden Emberg of Arizona, a sister, Sara Burkhardt of Punxsutawney, Pa. and twins, Edna Bish (Robert) and Edwin Emberg (Marie) all of Punxsutawney, Pa. There will be no calling hours, and funeral services will be at the convenience of the family. Interment will be held in Evergreen Cemetery, Union City, Pa. The Robert M. Glenn Funeral Home, Inc. 62 South Main Street, Union City, Pa. is handling arrangements.
