James J. Scanlon, age 65, of Erie, passed away on Thursday, May 2, 2013 at Twinbrook Medical Center. He was born in Pittsburgh on July 16, 1947, a son of the late Lawrence and Catherine Cole Scanlon. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force, during the Vietnam War. James had worked for Mosler, as a service representative, for 30 years, and most recently held the same position at Diebold. He was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church, the Siebenbuerger Club and was an avid train enthusiast. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister Virginia Welgan and her husband John. He is survived by his wife of 42 years Adrienne Filipowski Scanlon, one son, Paul Scanlon and his friend Jennifer Churma of Cranberry Township, one brother, Lawrence Scanlon Jr. and his wife Patricia of Ohio, one sister, Jeanne Scheele and her husband David of Arlington, Va., sister-in-law, Francine Mileham and her husband John of Cochranton and many nieces and nephews. The family would like to specially thank Tom Iorio from Great Lakes Hospice for his help and support when they needed it the most. Friends may call at the Russell C. Schmidt & Son Funeral Home Inc., 5000 Wattsburg Rd., Erie, PA 16504, on Monday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m., and are invited to a prayer service there on Tuesday morning at 10:30 a.m., followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m., at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church.
