WINSTON SALEM, NC A. Lloyd Greene, 78, formerly of Carroll County, Md., died Friday, April 4, 2014, at his residence in Winston Salem, N.C. Born December 28, 1935, in New Windsor, he was the son of the late Edith Burrier Greene and D. Paul Greene. He is survived by his wife, Doris Pond Greene of Winston Salem, N.C. Before retiring, he worked 43 years for Sire Power as a technician and trainer across the United States and abroad. He received many awards throughout his career. He and his wife were the innkeepers at Bowling Brook and he worked with his son on numerous jobs and fundraising events. He was a life member of the Westminster Elks Lodge No. 2277, Westminster Moose Lodge No. 1381, Littlestown Eagles, charter member of the Valley Lions Club and former member of Edgewood Church of the Brethren. He enjoyed farming, gardening, traveling to Williamsburg and John Deere collectibles. He enjoyed his new family and Yorkies in North Carolina that he loved. In addition to his wife, he is survived by son and daughter-in-law, David E. Greene, Sr. and wife Kathy of New Windsor; daughters and sons-in-law, Suzanne and Jeffery Dell of Hanover, and Penny and Jeffrey Lessard of Mt. Airy, N.C.; grandchildren, David E. Greene, Jr., Stacey Hudson, Jennifer Perry, McKinley Dell and Adam Ledbetter. Also survived by six great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by infant daughter, Greene; and brothers, Rev. D. Paul Greene and James A. Greene. The family will receive friends Tuesday and Wednesday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Fletcher Funeral & Cremation Services, 254 E. Main St., Westminster. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Dan Ceary of Linwood Brethren Church officiating. Interment will follow in Pipe Creek Cemetery near Linwood.
