ABBOTTSTOWN A. Wayne Kessel, 90, died Sunday, September 29, 2013 at Manor Care North in York. Born June 5, 1923 in Kessel, W.Va., son of the late Harry L. and Laura I. (Lahman) Kessel, Wayne was the owner/operator of Kess Auto Sales in Abbottstown for more than 60 years. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII, and was a life member of the East Berlin V.F.W. Wayne is survived by two daughters, Sandra K. Berwager and her husband Michael of Tyrone, and Jeanne M. Grogg and her husband Stephen of Spring Grove; a son, Andrew W. Kessel, Jr. of New Oxford; three grandchildren, Mollie Pribicko, Ryan Grogg, and Ayrton Kessel; three great-grandchildren, Elizabeth Pribicko, Grace Grogg, and William Grogg; his companion, Sylvia Wolford of Abbottstown; three sisters, Betty Gable and her husband Fred of New Oxford, Peggy Warner and her husband Kenneth of Hanover, and Dixie Mummert and her husband Gary of Littlestown; and his dog, Milo. He was predeceased by two brothers, Neil and Harry Kessel. Funeral services and burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
