NEW OXFORD Beatrice M. Myers, 94, passed away Tuesday, February 19, 2013, at the Brethren Home Community. She was born August 28, 1918, on her grandparent's farm in the Springfield Township, York County, daughter of the late Jacob E. and Mary H. Myers. Beatrice was a lifelong member of Hanover Church of the Brethren where she was a former Moderator, Chair of the church board and Sunday school teacher. Beatrice was a 1936 graduate of Eichelberger High School and a 1940 graduate of Elizabethtown College. She taught High School English, French and Latin for 35 years, mostly at Eichelberger/ Hanover High School. She was the Class of 1960 faculty advisor and enjoyed many reunions with them through the years. After her retirement from teaching she volunteered at Cross Key Village the Brethren Home Community for over 20 years. Beatrice loved to travel to Europe, throughout the United States to attend Church of the Brethren annual conferences and to Southern California in the winter to visit her sister. She is survived by her sister, Helen M. Herbst, La Verne, California; niece, Ann Herbst and partner Ann Linville of Windsor, California; nephew, David Herbst and wife, Alice of Palo Alto, California; niece, Marie Nave and husband, Gordon of Kansas City, Missouri; nephew, Richard Herbst and wife, Jane of Austin, Texas; as well as five grandnieces and nephews. A service to celebrate the life of Beatrice M. Myers will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 6, 2013, at the Nicarry Meeting House of The Brethren Home Community, 2990 Carlisle Pike, New Oxford, with the Rev. Geraldine M. Godfrey officiating. There will be no public viewing. The family will receive friends following the service in the Meeting House. Burial was private. Memorial contributions may be made to Children's Aid Society, 343 Lincoln Way W, New Oxford, PA 17350; or to The Brethren Home Community.
