YORK Geraldine V. (Trimmer) Shaffer "Toot", 80, passed away on Friday, June 14, 2013, at her home surrounded by her family. She was the loving wife of Kenneth E. Shaffer. Together they shared over 64 years of marriage. Geraldine was born in York, on June 20, 1932, and was the daughter of the late Curtis L. Trimmer and Mae F. (Wagner) Trimmer. She worked for Round Hill Turkey Processing Plant in New Oxford, American Gas in West York, and for Pennsylvania Courier Service. She was a former member of Paradise Holtzschwamm Lutheran Church in Thomasville, a life member of the Ladies Auxiliary of Spring Grove VFW Post #5265, and the Women's Auxiliary of the American Legion Shiloh Post #791. She was an avid bingo player at Nashville Fire Co. She also enjoyed gardening and house decorating and traveling all 49 states with her husband on their Honda Gold Wing. In addition to her husband, Kenneth, she is survived by her sons, Martin E. Shaffer and wife, Debra of Thomasville, and Shane M. Shaffer and wife, Cynthia of York; her daughters, Carrie M. Gladfelter and husband, George, Jr. of Spring Grove, and Barbara A. Sprenkle and husband, William of Spring Grove; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother, Charles L. Trimmer; her sister, Norma J. Knepper; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother, Richard Trimmer; her sisters, Betty Ort and Evelyn Winand; and her great-grandson, Wyatt Rinehart. A funeral service in celebration of her life will be held on Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Irwin-Beck Funeral Home & Cremation Service PC, 175 N. Main St., Spring Grove, with the Rev. Larry McConnell officiating. She will be laid to rest following the service at Paradise Holtzschwamm Union Cemetery. Viewings will be held on Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. and on Tuesday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the funeral home.
