GETTYSBURG Grace K. Coulson, 94, formerly of Biglerville, died Saturday afternoon, June 15, 2013, at the Gettysburg Lutheran Home. She was the wife of the late M. Francis Coulson who died January 17, 2004. Born December 26, 1918, in Adams County she was the daughter of the late Irvin R. and Elva G. (Bemiller) Kindig. Mrs. Coulson was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Biglerville, there she was involved with a task force ministry of people with special needs in the Lower Susquehanna Synod. She worked as an RN Nurse and was a graduate of the School of Nursing University of Pennsylvania Hospital in Philadelphia. She was also a medical secretary studying at the Pierce Business School in Philadelphia, in addition she earned her BS at Shippensburg University. She was a nursing instructor at the Harrisburg Hospital School of Nursing and South Mountain Restoration Center. She was a Veteran of World War II serving as a Captain in the U.S. Army Nurse Corp receiving a Bronze Star. She was a member of the Keystone Basha, CBIVA. Grace was a member of the Gettysburg Lutheran Home Auxiliary Board serving two terms on the Residential Living Council. She is survived by her two children, Gail C. Hipple, of Pendleton, Ind., Jeffrey K. Coulson, of Indianapolis, Ind.; four grandchildren, Elizabeth Hipple, of Bristol, Kathleen Hipple, of Pittsburgh, Merrill Lubas, of Camp Lejeune, N.C., Cara Rhoads-Coulson, of Indianapolis, Ind., one sister, Dorothy M. Craig, of Littlestown; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Helene K. Bankert and Eloise K. Smith. A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, June 22, 2013, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 25 Franklin St., Biglerville, with Rev. Ann E. Dentry officiating. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family. The family will receive friends following the service in the church social room. Family suggests memorial contributions be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church, PO Box 325, Biglerville, PA 17307.
