HANOVER Jacob Paul Thompson, Jr., 81, entered into God's eternal care Wednesday, May 7, 2014, at the Hanover Hospital, Hanover. He was the loving husband of Eleanor J. (Currence) Thompson, who died February 23, 2012. Born April 1, 1933, in Elkins, W.Va., he was the son of the late Jacob P. and Mona M. (White) Thompson, Sr. Paul served his country proudly in the United States Navy on the U.S.S. New Jersey during the Korean Conflict. He retired from Weirs, Inc. of Frederick, Md., after several years of service. He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, Hanover. Paul is survived by his sons, Michael P. Thompson and his wife, Leslie of Atlanta, Ga., Brent T. Thompson and his wife, June of Manchester, Md., and Gregory S. Thompson of Hanover; his daughter, Vicki D. Jacoby and her husband, Tony of Hanover; 10 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; his sister, Helen "Dot" Cattaneo of Finksburg, Md.; and his granddog, Emma. He was preceded in death by his sister, Loretta "Jane" Ruof. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, May 12, 2014, at the Kenworthy Funeral Home, Inc., 269 Frederick St., Hanover, with his pastor, the Rev. Richard Smith, officiating. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery, Hanover. A visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home. Full military honors will be provided by the Hanover Allied Veterans Honor Guard. Serving as pallbearers will be Paul's sons. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Paul's memory to Grace United Methodist Church, 55 Albright Drive, Hanover, PA 17331.
