HANOVER Jean L. Cashman, 86, of Columbia Cottage, Hanover, entered into God's eternal care Wednesday, July 24, 2013, at the Gettysburg Lutheran Home. Jean was the loving wife of Robert J. Cashman, who died December 3, 2004. They were married on December 31, 1942, and shared 62 years of marriage. Born November 19, 1926, in Hanover, she was the daughter of the late Henry W. and Jennie I. (Gross) Artley. Jean was the owner and operator of Jean Cashman's Beauty Salon located at 134 Paul St. in Hanover for 35 years. Mrs. Cashman was a life-long member of St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church of Hanover. Her faith and church family were very important to Jean. She was proud that all of her children and most of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were baptized in her home church. She was also a member of the Benevolent Protective Order of the Elks #763 of Hanover Ladies Auxiliary. Jean is survived by her daughter, Karen J. Grimes of Hanover; her two sons, Bradley R. Cashman and his wife, Susan of Carlisle, and Brian L. Cashman and his wife, Judy of Hanover; 12 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her brother, Harold Artley, and her sister, Peggy Spangler. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 27, 2013, at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 127 York St., Hanover, with Pr. Tina Minnich officiating. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery, Hanover. There will be a viewing from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the church. Serving as casketbearers will be Jean's grandsons, Corey D. Messinger, Barton R. Cashman, Burton R. Cashman, Brenton R. Cashman, Bradley R. Cashman, Jr., Christian W. Cashman, and Brian L. Cashman, Jr. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Jean may be made to St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 127 York St., Hanover, PA 17331; or to the VNA Hospice of Hanover & Spring Grove, 440 N.
