LITTLESTOWN Joane (Lawrence) Hilterbrick, 84, comfortably passed away Monday, January 21, 2013, at The Brethren Home in New Oxford, where she resided since July 2011. Born September 1, 1928, in Hanover, she was the only child of the late Norman and Theresa (Arnold) Lawrence of Hanover. A graduate of Delone Catholic High School, Joane retired after 20 years with Eddie's Cleaners in the Littlestown office, and 20 years with the family-owned Littlestown News Agency. "Jo" was an avid N.Y. Yankees fan, and enjoyed all sports - from golf to football, but baseball and the Yankees were her primary passion. She had many dear friends in the local area, many whom she met over her years in retail. Joane would also like to send a special thank you to her caregivers from VNA Hospice of Hanover & Spring Grove, The Brethern Home "Peace Valley" Staff, and Ms. Sandy Howell of Gettysburg, Faith in Action volunteer. She is survived by three children, Deborah (Johnny) Torrey of St Petersburg, Fla.,, Diane Greenwald of York, and Paul "Hap" (Beverly) Hilterbrick, of Confluence, Pa.; five grandchildren, Christy (Bob) Brown of Drexel Hill, Tony (Sarah) Pananes of Chambersburg, David Greenwald of Brooklyn, N.Y., Amy (Todd) Savini of New Alexandria, Pa., and Justin Hilterbrick of Pittsburgh; and the shining light of her later years, her great-grandson, Logan of New Alexandria. At the family's request there will be no viewing. Arrangements are entrusted to Little's Funeral Home, Littlestown. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, January 28, 2013, at St Aloysius Catholic Church in Littlestown, with the Rev James Sterner officiating. She will be laid to rest at St. Vincent's Cemetery, Hanover. Joane respectfully requests in lieu of flowers, donations to be sent directly to Alpha Fire Co #1, 40 E.
