BONNEAUVILLE Monroe E. Noble, 89, entered into God's eternal care Friday, April 19, 2013 at his residence with his loving family by his side. Monroe was the loving husband of the late Anna L. (Little) Noble, with whom he shared 57 years of marriage. Born August 21, 1923, in Adams County, he was the son of the late Allen and Edna (Rineman) Noble. Mr. Noble was a veteran of the United States Army, having served his country proudly as a Sergeant in World War II with the 82nd Airborne 504/505 Paratrooper and 80th Glider Divisions. He received the Bronze Star, three Purple Hearts, the Presidential Unit Citation, Good Conduct Medal, a European-African Campaign Citation, the French Croix De-Guerre Medal, the World War II Victory Medal, and he also received his Glider Wings. Mr. Noble received honorable citations from Belgium, France, and Holland with the Star & Arrow. Monroe was a plasterer for over 45 years and also worked for the Hoffman Home for Youth. He was a Patrolman and Chief of Police for the Borough of Bonneauville in the early years of forming the Borough. Monroe was a member of St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church, Bonneauville. He was a life member of the Catholic War Veterans Post #1342 of Bonneauville, the Littlestown Eagles, and the Knights of Columbus of McSherrystown. He was a Charter Member of the 82nd Airborne Division, a life member of the Disabled American Veterans-Keystone Chapter, and a Life Member of the Bonneauville Fire Company. Monroe loved his wife, Anna, and spending time with his grandchildren. His hobbies included his work, spending time outdoors, and hunting. Monroe is survived by his son, Ronald Noble and his wife, Kay of Gettysburg; grandchildren, Dustin Noble and Britany Noble of Gettysburg; his brother, Harold Noble and his wife, Helen of the Brethren Home at Cross Keys; sisters, Dorothy Rocks and her husband, Ron of Pompano Beach, Fla., and Evelyn Stuller of Littlestown; and his very good friend, Thelma Zigler of Gettysburg. A Mass of Christian Burial to celebrate and remember Monroe's life will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 23, 2013, at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church, 12 E. Hanover St., (Bonneauville) Gettysburg 17325 with Father Augusty T. Valomchalil as celebrant. Burial will be in St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church Cemetery, (Bonneauville) Gettysburg, with the Allied Veterans Honor Guard providing military honors. A viewing and time to share memories with the family will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Kenworthy Funeral Home, Inc., 66 E. Hanover St., (Bonneauville) Gettysburg. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in memory of Monroe may be made to the VNA Hospice of Hanover and Spring Grove, 440 N. Madison St., Hanover, PA 17331.
