HANOVER Patricia H. Kovacevich, 60, entered into God's eternal care, Wednesday, December 11, 2013, at the Hanover Hospital. Tricia was the precious, loving wife of Dennis Kovacevich with whom she shared 7 years of marriage. Born May 31, 1953, in Gulfport, MS, she was the daughter of the late Huis and Verna (Byrd) Horn. She retired from Nell's Market of Hanover after several years of service. Tricia graciously and elegantly served as the First Lady to the Rotary District 7390 from 2007-2008 during which time, her husband Dennis served as the District Governor. She was so proud to participate in a Helping Hands Mission to her beloved hometown, Gulfport, MS to repair one of the many homes devastated by Hurricane Katrina. She also gratefully assisted in a Rotary International medical mission to the Amazon region of Peru, helping utterly impoverished people she had never met and would never see again. These are just two of the selfless acts Tricia completed in her too short life. Her final act of selflessness was the gift of beauty, the gift of sight and the gift of live through organ donation. But her greatest achievement was being a loving Mother to her two children, Heather and Christopher. She was a strong Patriot who loved her country. She was very proud of her son, Christopher who served in the United States Army in a tour in Afghanistan. Tricia loved all of God's creations: everyone she met, animals, trees, flowers, birds, clouds. Tricia cared for many wounded and abandoned animals over the years, and in the last eight years, cared for and loved her miniature dachshund, Blue. In addition to her husband Dennis, Tricia is survived by her daughter; Heather Sztobryn of Hanover; her son, Christopher McDonald of Banner Elk, N.C.; step-children, Jane Pezua, Sara Phelps both of Salinas, Calif., and Amy Force of Ann Arbor, MI.; her grandson; Jack Sztobryn; step-grandchildren, Trevor Force, Nolan Force, Dakota Phelps, Hudson Phelps; and her sister, Jennifer Dumal of Gulfport, MS. She was preceded in death by her brother, Dennis Horn. Following cremation, a memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, January 4, 2014 at the Kenworthy Funeral Home, Inc., 269 Frederick Street, Hanover, with Brother Patrick Harris, OSB officiating in absentia. Visitation and a time to share memories will be held from 2 to 3 p.m., Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Tricia may be made to your local Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA). The Kenworthy Funeral Home, Inc., 269 Frederick Street, Hanover, PA has been entrusted by the family with the funeral arrangements. Memories and condolences may be shared at www.kenworthyfh.com
