SPRING GROVE Richard Henry Riley, 64, passed away on Monday, January 6, 2014, at Hanover Hospital in Hanover. Richard was born in York, on April 28, 1949, and was the son of the late Ralph and Ida (Amsbaugh) Riley. He graduated from Spring Grove High School class of 1969. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War and was honorably discharged. He worked for P.H. Glatfelter in Spring Grove for over 35 years and retired in 2011. He was a former member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Spring Grove. He was a lifetime member of the Allen J. Beck VFW Post #5265 in Spring Grove, where he was a service officer. He was also a member of P.H. Glatfelter Quarter Century Club, Hanover Am Vets, Hanover Eagles, and the American Legion in Hanover. He enjoyed coin collecting and walking the Rail Trail and cherished the time he spent with his nieces and nephews. Richard was a kind and gentle man who would do anything for anyone. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him. Richard is survived by his twin sister, Connie L. Dattilio and husband, Paul of Hanover; his nieces, Nicole Chaudhury and husband, Raj, and Angela Keefer and husband, Cyrus; his nephew, Michael Riley and wife, Linda; and his great-niece and nephews, Rocco, Gabriel, and Skylar. He was predeceased by his brother, Mearle Riley. A funeral service in celebration of his life will be held on Friday at 11 a.m. at Irwin-Beck Funeral Home & Cremation Service PC, 175 N Main St., Spring Grove, with Pastors Matthew and Norma Schenning officiating. He will be laid to rest following the service at Christ Roth's Lutheran Church Cemetery in Spring Grove with military honors provided by the York County Veteran Honor Guard. Viewings will be held on Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. and on Friday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to Pvt. Allen J.
