James D. Petroske

James Daniel Petroske, 31, Weston, died at St. Clare's Hospital while giving the ultimate gift of life to others.

James was born on March 16, 1982 in Wausau to Ronald and Gertrude (Waidelich) Petroske. He graduated from D.C. Everest High School in 2003 and went on to work at Aurora Community Service for ten years. James was a lifetime member of St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church in the Town of Wausau. He was a member of Wausau Metro Adult Special Olympics. Special Olympics was a huge part of his life. He participated in bowling, bocce ball, discus throw, javelin throw, and the softball throw.

James was a special gift that brought love and joy to everyone's lives that he touched.

James is survived by his mom Gertrude Petroske of Weston; siblings Jay (Barb) Petroske of Schofield, Joe (Carol) Petroske of Bonita Springs, FL, Jean Heck of Stevens Point, Joni (Jeff) Berta of Scottsdale, AZ, John (Maureen) Heck of Wausau; and Janel (Rick) Rice of Milwaukee; foster sisters Julie of Texas, Susan Lopez of Bear Lake, MN; nephews Justin (Brittney) Petroske, John (Cortney) Heck Jr., Tyler Jones, Nick and Kris Laffin, Richard, Michael, and Timothy Rice, and Jeff; nieces Julie (Quentin Woodward) Petroske, Sarah Jones, and Jacqueline Motel; great nieces Chloe Jones and Wren Woodward; and great nephews James, Micah, and Noah (Hendrickson) Heck.

James is preceded in death by his dad Ronald Petroske, sister Jane Heck, and cousin David Horne.

Funeral Services were held at 2:30 pm on Monday, March 17, 2014 at St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 7505 N. 33rd St., Wausau. The Rev. Scott Holoubek officiated. Burial was at St.Peter's Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made in James' name to the Wausau Metro Adult Special Olympics, 8100 Greenhouse Road, Wausau, WI 54401.
