Keehn, Coralee Griffith

Coralee Griffith Keehn of Merritt Island, FL, walked into the arms of our heavenly Father on Wednesday, March 5, 2014.

Coralee was born on February 24, 1934, in Highland Park, IL, the child of Joshua Todd (J.T.) and Helen Leonard Griffith. Coralee was the first daughter and second child in a family of five children. Coralee graduated from Highland Park High School and went on the University of Wisconsin in Madison in the fall of 1952.

At the University, Coralee met Douglas Keehn from Cedarburg, WI, while on a blind date. While Doug finished his Engineering degree, Coralee became a Stewardess for United Airlines for approximately eighteen months.

Doug and Coralee were married on May 23, 1956, in Bradford, PA, where her parents were living. After their marriage, Doug and Coralee lived many places before finally retiring in Merritt Island, where they have lived for the past 27 years.

Coralee dedicated her entire life to her husband, Doug and their children, Helen Ann, Douglas Allen and Virginia Lynn. Mom always supported Dad in his career at Mercury Marine and was also an inspiration and encouragement in their 58 years of marriage.

Mom was also a loving and devoted mother and grandmother, we could always pick up the phone or stop by for a visit to receive her love and reassurance that no matter what was going on in our lives or what was on the horizon, she would be there with her kind words and gentle love and guidance.

Coralee is survived by Doug, her husband of 58 years; her daughter, Helen (Tom) Carew of Fond du Lac, WI and their children, Kelly (Kevin) Colwin, children, Elliott and Violet, Kimberly (Ryan) Blick and their daughter, Phoebe, Matthew Carew and Robyn Carew; son, Douglas Keehn and his daughters, Emily and Coralee and their mother Victoria Keehn; and daughter, Virginia (Scott) Ransom of Madison, WI and their children, Scott, Jr. and Rachel. Coralee is also survived by her three sisters, Virginia (Dick) Pinsker, Susan Johnson and Jane (Beck) Grabau and many loving nieces and nephews.

Coralee was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Todd; brother-in-law, David Johnson; beloved grandson, Daniel Todd Ransom and nieces, Melinda Lee Pinsker Trinidad and Katherine Helen Johnson Swint.

Funeral services for Coralee were held on Saturday, March 15 at St. Mark's Episcopal Church, 4 Church Street, Cocoa, FL, at 11:00 a.m.
