Valtierra, Eliazar Ramon

Eliazar "Ray" Valtierra, 61, of Broomfield, Colorado, was called to heaven on November 8, 2012. Ray was born in Fond du Lac, WI on January 23, 1951, the son of Ramon and Maria Valtierra.

Ray was a graduate of L.P. Goodrich High School. At the age of 18 he enlisted and proudly served his country in the United States Air Force, serving throughout the United States and Greece. Ray married his loving wife, Mary Regina Zwicker on September 25, 1987. Ray was a dedicated and well respected employee of the State of Wisconsin Department of Corrections for over 24 years. He retired as a sergeant in 2010 from Oshkosh Correctional Institution and moved to Broomfield, Colorado, with his loving wife, children and grandchildren. He spent the rest of his days drumming, laughing at B movies, thrift shopping, fixing things, and falling asleep to the History Channel. Ray also enjoyed music and he was a talented musician who played drums and sang with several bands in the Fond du Lac area. He will be sorely missed and forever loved.

He is survived by his wife, Mary; his children, Zachary A. Valtierra, Zoë R. Valtierra, Colleen (William) Kluza, and Richard B. Hauer; grandchildren, Ethan and London Hauer, and Sebastian and Benjamin Kluza; seven siblings, Val Ryan, Flora (Doug) Stapel, Esperanza "Babe" (Bill) Willis, Armando "Mondy" Valtierra, Sue Valtierra, Rhonda (Paul) Whitenack, and Richard (Jennifer) Valtierra; seven nieces and nephews; as well as a great-niece and a great-nephew. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ramon and Maria Valtierra and his grandchild, Jamon Hauer.

Ray will be dearly missed by many friends and relatives. He was a kind and gentle person; a wonderful husband, father, son, brother, uncle, and friend with the rarest of personalities. His calm, reassuring and intellectual demeanor served as an island of serenity in the stormy seas of life. He will be missed greatly but he has been called to another journey that only he can fulfill.

Arrangements were handled by Horan & McConaty Funeral Services of Thornton, Colorado. A Celebration of Life will be held in Fond du Lac, WI to be announced at a later date.
