Alcide F. St. Cyr

LEOMINSTER -- Alcide F. St. Cyr 92, of Leominster, MA. passed away peacefully Monday April 29, 2013 at the Highlands.
He was born in Fitchburg, MA. on April 5,1921 the son of Eugene and Eva (Morin) St. Cyr and was raised in Fitchburg, MA. In 1941 he enlisted in the U S. Navy and served during WW2. He was aboard the USS Agusta and was active in the North African Theatre and D-Day. He served until 1945 and was honorably discharged. He received the European -- African Ribbon 3 Stars for his service.
Upon returning from the Navy he went to work as a presser for the former Asher Pants Co. of Fitchburg and worked there for 47 years before his retirement. He was a resident of Leominster, MA for many years. He was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Church.
He was a very quiet man who most enjoyed spending time with his son and daughter and his grand and great- grandchildren. His family would like to extend special thanks to the Nurses and staff of the Highlands 4th floor and to Summit Elder Care in Leominster, MA for love and support over the past few years.
He leaves his son Gregory B. St. Cyr and his life partner Susan Millette of Leominster, MA., his daughter Sherryl C. St. Cyr of Fitchburg, MA., one brother Roger "Cy" St. Cyr of Leominster, MA., one sister, Anita Bedard of Fitchburg, MA., three grandchildren, James and his wife, Kara St. Cyr, Natalie, and Nicholas, two great-grandchildren, Tyler and Alyssa and many nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by his wife Stella M. (Damboise) St. Cyr in 1994, and three brothers, Robert, Norman, and Eugene St. Cyr.
ST. CYR -- His funeral will be held on Friday May 3, 2013 with a Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Francis of Assisi Church, 81 Sheridan St., Fitchburg, MA. Interment with Military Honors will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery in Gardner, MA.
