Alfred W. "Mike" Barrette

FITCHBURG -- Alfred W. "Mike" Barrette 87, of Fitchburg passed away peacefully on October 31, 2013 in Golden Living Center.
He was born on July 7,1926 in Fitchburg, MA., the son of Alfred and Eva (Sarasin) Barrette and lived in Fitchburg, MA. most of his life. He attended St. Bernard's High School. In 1944 he enlisted in the U S. Navy and served in WW 2. He was honorably discharged in 1946. Mike went on to work 28 years at Simonds Saw & Steel Co. in Fitchburg, MA., retiring in 1988. After his retirement he and his wife Louise moved to Florida and lived there for ten years, where he enjoyed playing Bocci, horseshoes, shuffle board and especially golfing. He had a special love for the white sand beaches, dancing and music. He was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Church in Fitchburg, MA. and a member of the Tuesday card group three. He was also a member of the Senior Center in Fitchburg, MA., and the VFW.
As a father and husband he was the greatest, a true gentleman. His family would like to thank the Golden Living Center staff for their wonderful care given to him. They gave both he and his family a wonderful peace.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Louise (Moran) Barrette, his son Wayne Barrette and his wife Julie, his granddaughters, Brooke and Paige all of Highlands Ranch Colorado, his sister Jeannette Marchetti of Leominster, MA., and several nephews and nieces. He is predeceased by his brother Roland Barrette.
BARRETTE -- A funeral Mass will be held on Saturday November 9, 2013 at 10 a.m. in St. Francis of Assisi Church, 81 Sheridan St., Fitchburg. Inurnment will be in Massachusetts Veterans Cemetery- Winchendon, MA. at a later date. There are no calling hours.
