LEOMINSTER -- Daniel R. Evans Sr. 63, of Leominster, died Monday, February 24, 2014 in Veterans Administration Hospital, in West Roxbury. He was born on July 21, 1950, in Pennsylvania, was the son of Joseph and Mary (Brobst) Evans.
He was a United States Army Veteran of the Vietnam War, having earned the Army Commendation Medal (3rd oak leaf cluster), Army Achievement Medal, Good Conduct Medal (4th Award), National Defense Service Medal, NCO Professional Development Ribbon (3), Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, Hand Grenade Expert Badge, and the M-16 Rifle Marksman Badge. Mr. Evans then worked as a housing inspector at Ft. Devens. He was a member of the Masons in Aberdeen, Maryland.
He is survived by a son Daniel R. Evans Jr., of Leominster, a daughter, Melinda Evans and her husband Matthew MacDonald of Leominster, 2 grandchildren Brett Houck, and Audreana Houck, 3 brothers, 5 sisters, a brother-in-law, 3 sisters-in-law, many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife of 30 years Elana L. (Stairs) Evans in 2005.
EVANS -- After cremation in Rural Crematory, Worcester, burial with Military Honors will be in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville, PA.
