John 'Jack' L. Cormier
of Leominster, Korean War Vet; 81

LEOMINSTER -- John "Jack" L. Cormier, 81, a lifelong resident of Leominster, died Sunday, April 28, 2013, in Oakdale Nursing Rehabilitation, in West Boylston.

He was born on October 17, 1931, in Leominster, MA. He was the son of Lucien and Irma (Collins) Cormier. He attended Leominster Schools and was a graduate of Leominster High School.

Mr. Cormier entered the National Guard in 1951, and then went into active duty in the United States Army. He was a Veteran of the Korean War Era, serving with the U.S. Army from 1953 to 1955 and earning the National Defense Service Medal, and attaining the rank of Specialist First Class. He also served in the National Guard from 1956-1991.

He worked as an oil burner tech for Leominster Plumbing and Heating. Jack started with them in 1957 and worked there for 36 years retiring in 1993. He also worked at Do Do's Phlowers in Leominster for 15 years. He was a member of St. Cecilia Parish in Leominster, and a member of the Leominster Senior Center.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, L. Lorraine (Forgues) Cormier of Leominster; two sons, John C. Cormier and his wife, Ester of Cooper City, Florida, and James M. Cormier and his wife, Michelle of West Boylston, MA; three daughters, Corrine A. Ferzoco and her husband, Pelino "Bill" of Leominster, Susan M. Brown and her husband, Denis of Shrewsbury, MA, and Kathleen M. Monahan and her husband, Joseph of Uxbridge, MA; two sisters, Ann Chiumento of Leominster, and Connie Tucker of Mason, N.H.;
11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by three brothers, Robert Cormier, Norman Cormier and Charles Cormier, and a sister, Gloria Wesolowski.

CORMIER -- The funeral will be held on Wednesday, May 1, 2013 from the Wright-Roy Funeral Home, 109 West St., Leominster, with a Funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m. in St. Cecilia Church, 168 Mechanic St., Leominster, Burial with Military Honors will follow in St. Cecilia Cemetery, Leominster. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday morning, May 1, 2013 from 8:00 to 9:30 a.m. in the funeral home.
