LEOMINSTER -- Joseph William Kleczka, 92 years old, of Leominster, died Wednesday, July 23, 2014, in Health Alliance Leominster Hospital with his family by his side.

He was born March 31,1922 in Webster, MA, the son of William and Frances (Bure) Kleczka. He leaves his son, John Kleczka and his wife, Pamela of Lunenburg; his daughter, Frances K. Hartman and her husband Richard of Leominster; six grandchildren, Jesse Kleczka, Joseph Kleczka, Michael Hartman, Tina Carmichael, Amanda Flaherty, and William Hartman;

10 great-grandchildren; his sister, Adeline Germaine of Holland, MA; and many nephews, nieces, and cousins.

His wife of 64 years, Dorothy P. (Jordan) Kleczka died in 2011. Several brothers and sisters predeceased him.

Joseph was a retired Major in the United States Army serving over 20 years. He received the American Campaign Medal, World War II Victory Medal, American Defense Campaign Medal with four overseas Bars, Asiatic-Pac Campaign Medal, Occ Medal, Korean Service Medal, Bronze Star, Silver Star, and was twice awarded the Purple Heart.

He was a member of the Leominster Lodge of ELKS No 1237, Leominster Knights of Columbus, American Legion where he served as past commander, member of the Leominster Senior Center and was a Coordinator for American Boys State Program for many years. He was also an avid Boston Red Sox Fan.

KLECZKA -- Joe's Funeral will be held on Monday, July 28, 2014 from the Silas F. Richardson & Son Funeral Home, 106 West St., Leominster, with an 11:00 am Mass in St. Cecilia's Church, 180 Mechanic St., Leominster. Burial with military honors will follow in St. Cecilia's Cemetery Leominster. Calling hours in the funeral home are Sunday July 27, 2014 from 2 pm-4 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory can be made to the Leominster Veterans Center, 100 West St., Leominster MA.01453.
