M. Paul Burnside
of Townsend, Navy Vet; 77
TOWNSEND -- M. Paul Burnside, 77, of Townsend, died unexpectedly Friday, November 1, 2013, at Lowell General Hospital, Lowell.
His wife of 54 years, Evelyn A. (Koivu) Burnside, died in March 2010.
Mr. Burnside was born in Boston, October 16, 1936, the son of Henry and Jane S. (Hannigan) Burnside, and resided many years in Townsend. He and Evelyn also wintered for many years at Golden in West Palm Beach, Florida.
For over 20 years, he worked as a mechanical engineer at the International Paper Box Company in Nashua, NH, retiring in 2003.
Paul was an avid squash player and for many years was a member of the Hampshire Hill Racquet & Tennis Club, Milford, NH. In the mid 1950's, he served his country in the United States Navy and was assigned to the Submarine USS Ray which was stationed to duty in the Mediterranean Sea, Atlantic and Caribbean Oceans.
He leaves two daughters and a son-in-law, Lorna B. and William Schulze of Townsend, Lisa J. Gerstner of Florida; three grandsons, Michael Schulze, Mark Schulze and Matthew Schulze.
BURNSIDE -- Mr. Burnside's family will receive family and friends from 5-7 P.M., Monday, November 4th at the T.J. Anderson & Son Funeral Home, 250 Main Street, (Rte. 119), Townsend Center.
