Raymond J. Verolini, 89
LUNENBURG AND GILBERT, AZ -- Raymond J. Verolini, 89, a former longtime resident of Lunenburg, MA, died Aug. 12, in Mercy Gilbert Medical Center after an illness.
He leaves his wife, Gloria P. (Messina) Verolini; two sons, Robert M. Verolini, and his wife, Linda, of Arizona, Michael R. Verolini, and his wife, Denise; one daughter, Cathy Francois, and her husband, James, all of California; seven grandchildren and two great- grandchildren.
Raymond is predeceased by three brothers, Albert Verolini, John Verolini, and Ernest Verolini.
Mr. Verolini was an Insurance Agent for John Hancock Insurance Company for many years.
He attended St. Bernard's High School in Fitchburg, where he played football, basketball and baseball. He attended New York University on a football scholarship where he was also the Captain of his team in 1946. He graduated with a BA in Education. He loved golf and was a member of Westminster Country Club for many years.
He was born on September 9, 1923, a son of the late Periche and Amalia (Rosetti) Verolini. Raymond and his wife would have celebrated 65 years of marriage in October. They moved to Gilbert, Arizona in 2006 to be close to their three children.
VEROLINI -- Graveside Services for Raymond will be held on Monday, Aug., 19, at 11 a.m. at St. Bernard's Cemetery, Fitchburg. Deacon William Griffin will officiate.
Calling hours will be private.
The Lunenburg Chapel of the Sawyer-Miller-Masciarelli Funeral Home, 763 Mass Ave., Lunenburg, is directing Funeral arrangements.
