Ronald W. Bishop
of Fitchburg, Marine Vet; 78

FITCHBURG -- Ronald W. Bishop, 78, of Fitchburg, formerly of Lunenburg, passed away Friday, May 9, in Leominster Hospital.

Ronald was born in Fitchburg on October 12, 1935, a son of the late Sidney and Helen (Hardy) Bishop. He attended Lunenburg High School, and later went on to enlist in the United States Marine Corp, where he proudly served his country.

For several years, Ronald was a firefighter with the Lunenburg Fire Department. He retired from the VeryFine Company in Littleton, where he worked as a truck driver for over 30 years.

In his younger years, Ronald loved bowling. He enjoyed watching NASCAR and football. Along with his wife and children, Ronald loved to go deep sea and lake fishing.

He leaves his children, Ronald W. Bishop, Jr. of Florida and Lisa Proctor and her husband, Carl of Lunenburg; grandson, Christopher Proctor of Lunenburg; brother, Gary Bishop and his wife, Linda of Northborough; several nieces and nephews.

Ronald was predeceased by his wife of 40 years, Joan (Landers) Bishop in 2000; his daughter, Laurie Bishop in 1978; grandson, Timothy Walter Proctor in 2004, and his brother, Richard Bishop in 2013.

BISHOP -- Calling hours will be held in the Brandon Funeral Home, 305 Wanoosnoc Rd., Fitchburg on Tuesday, May 20, from 4-7 PM. A graveside service will be held privately in North Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorial donations be made to the Tim Proctor Memorial Fund, c/o Cliff Worthley, 53 Woodland Drive, Lunenburg, MA 01462.
