of Leominster, WWll Vet; 88

LEOMINSTER -- Verne T. Casavoy, 88, passed away October 22, in his home with his loving family at his side.

He was born on March 11, 1925 in Shirley, the son of the late Roderick and Blanche (Saunders) Casavoy.

Mr. Casavoy was predeceased by his wife, Lucille C. (Ouelette) Casavoy who died in 2009, and his brothers and sisters, Roderick, Carroll, Geraldine, and Constance.

He leaves his children, four sons, Verne T. Casavoy Jr., of Arizona, Kevin C. Casavoy of Hull, Keith J. Casavoy and his wife, Brenda of Templeton, and Wayne S. Casavoy and his wife, Pamela of Leominster; four daughters, Pamela C. McAuliffe and her husband, Frank, Karen A. Trevino, Dawn M. Coleman, Cheryl A. Casavoy, all of Leominster; 10 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren.

Mr. Casavoy was a Drafting Engineer for Burke Engineering in Worcester retiring in 1990. He also worked for Weyerhauser and Jennison Company in Fitchburg.

He was a Member of St. Leo's Parish in Leominster, and could be seen for over 60 years assisting with collections, he proudly served his country during WWII with The United States Navy and received the rank of Aviation Ordnance man Second Class, was a Life Member of The Disabled American Veterans, The VFW Post 151, a member of The Knights of Columbus, and was a Boy Scout Leader at St. Leo's Troop.

CASAVOY -- The Funeral will be held on Monday, (October 28) from THE CURLEY MARCHAND FUNERAL HOME, 89 West St., Leominster, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM in St. Leo's Church, 108 Main St., Leominster. Burial will follow in The Massachusetts Veterans Cemetery; Winchendon, Mass. Calling Hours at the Funeral Home will be on Sunday from 4:00 to 7:00 PM. Flowers may be sent or donations be made in his memory to: The Leominster Veterans Center, 100 West St., Leominster, or to St. Jude's Children's Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Way, Memphis, TN 38105, and may be left at the Funeral Home.
