Alex Basarab, Jr., 89, of Melbourne, passed away on March 25, 2013. He was born in the small mining town of Banning, Pennsylvania to Czech immigrants, Alex and Anna Basarab.

Alex is survived by his son, Dennis Basarab; daughter-in-law, Marilyn Basarab; and three grandchildren, Erik, Michelle, and Phillip Basarab of Medina, Ohio. He is also survived by his adopted son, Alex Basarab, Jr., of Palm Bay; and step-daughter, Joyce Nelsen, of Grand Junction, Iowa.

He was predeceased in death by his first wife, Dorothy J. Basarab; second wife, Candace Basarab; brothers, John, George, and Tom Basarab; sister, Helen B. Fry; and many nieces and nephews.

Alex served in the United States Navy and was a veteran of WWII. He worked at General Tire and Rubber Co. in Akron, Ohio for 29 years prior to retirement. He then worked at Melbourne Golf Course and retired from there after 11 years.

Alex loved playing golf, going fishing, and living life to it's fullest. He was a Christian and a believer in Jesus Christ.
