Armando A. Macias Obituary

Armando A. Macias, 82, of Sunrise, Florida, formerly of Tampa, passed away on June 23, 2013 at his home. Mr. Macias was born April 1, 1931, in Tampa, FL. He was the son of the late Armando Macias and Estela Garcia.

He graduated from Hillsborough HS in 1949 and entered the US Navy in 1950. He was honorably discharged in 1953 and received the Korean Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the United Nations Medal and the Good Conduct Medal for his service. After leaving active service, he settled in Merritt Island, FL, where he began his career as an engineer in the space industry at Cape Canaveral. While there, he worked in the Titan program with Martin-Marietta and the Apollo program with Grumman Corp. He also served as the President of the American Society of Quality Control for the Cape Canaveral section. He retired from the Aerospace Corp in 1996 and moved to Sunrise, FL, where he resided until his death.

Mr. Macias is survived by his wife of 61 years, Emerida, of Sunrise; his daughter, Cassie Macias, of Gainesville, FL; his son, Randy Macias and wife, Flavia, of Miramar, FL; his granddaughters, Mallory Macias, Bianca Macias, Carissa Pryor, Arianna Pryor and Amanda Pryor, of Miramar, FL; his sister, Norma Harrell, of Tampa, FL; and several nieces and nephews.

Graveside funeral service will take place on Friday, June 28, 2013 at 11 a.m. at the Myrtle Hill Memorial Park, Tampa, FL.
