Barbara Ellen Bennett

Atlanta, GA

Barbara Ellen Bennett, 60, of Atlanta, Georgia, died Wednesday, April 24, 2014.

She was born to the late Allan V. Bennett and Eloise Coleman Cunningham in Melbourne, Florida on April 16, 1954. Barbara graduated from Satellite Beach High School in Melbourne. She was awarded a degree in Medical Technology from the University of Florida, Gainesville. She worked in the field for more than 30 years. She was employed at Emory University Hospital and was recently recognized for 25 years of service.

Everyone Barbara encountered loved her. She has left behind an army of friends and family, whose lives will forever be changed by her absence. All of us were inspired by Barb's strength and her refusal to allow life's challenges to diminish her happiness. It is with our blessings that she released to an existence in which she is free of pain and distress.

Her beloved spouse, Anne Torry, survives her, as does her older brother Allan. Together, Barb and Anne built a beautiful life and a loving family. She is also survived by her children: daughters, Carol Anne of Athens, Jennifer of Costa Rica, and sons, Nigel of Columbus, OH, and Christopher of Atlanta; Grandchildren: Emily Anne, Claire, Jenna, Danielle, Georgia, Sophie, Nico and Andrew; Great grandchildren: Mark and August; Nieces: Ravyn and Savannah, and nephew, Chris.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Sea Turtle Preservation Society via, SE Pug Resuce at or a .
