Charles Louis Naegel, 80, passed away at Holmes Regional Hospital on Wednesday, December 12, 2012. Chuck was born in Cleveland, Ohio on October 22, 1932. He was the youngest of four siblings.
He was a retired Army Lt. Colonel and served during the Vietnam conflict. Chuck had been married to Joan Naegel for 52 years and recently widowed. Employed at Patrick Air Force Base 1968-1974 as a Personnel Manager. He had lived in the Renaissance Townhomes area of Suntree in Melbourne, FL and Satellite Beach, FL. He was actively involved with the Satellite Beach Girl's Softball League, 1979-1980, and a friend to many.
Chuck is survived by his sister-in-law, Diane Baker (Ken) of Palm Bay; son, Dean Naegel of West Melbourne; daughter, Debbie Brumfield (Tom) of Palm Bay; daughter, Donna Zuhlke (Chris) of Indian Harbour Beach; grandchildren, Jason Naegel U.S. Army, Ryan Naegel USNR, Britney Brumfield U.S. Navy, and Morgan and Matthew Zuhlke of Indian Harbour Beach.
Chuck had been diagnosed with cancer October 2012 and had fought it with dignity and determination. His loving family and the many dear friends who knew him will sorely miss him.
The family will receive friends from 3:30 - 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 20th at Florida Memorial Funeral Home, 5950 S. US Hwy. 1, Rockledge, FL a memorial service will follow at 4:00 p.m. in the chapel.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to VITAS Hospice, 4450 W. Eau Gallie Blvd., Suite 250, Melbourne, FL 32934.
