Colonel Roger A. Culbertson, US Army (Ret.), 84, passed away Saturday, December 29, 2012. He was born on June 19, 1928 in Tacoma, Washington, to Edward and Evelyn Culbertson.
Colonel Culbertson served his country honorably from 1946 to 1951, and from 1952 to 1980. Among Col. Culbertson's decorations and awards are: Legion of Merit (2 OLC); Distinguished Flying Cross (1OLC); Bronze Star Medal with "V" for Valor (6 OLC); Meritorious Service Medal (1 OLC); Air Medal (2 OLC); Army Commendation Medal (3 OLC); Purple Heart (2 OLC); World War II Victory Medal; Army of Occupation Medal (Japan); Humanitarian Service Medal; National Defense Service Medal (1 OLC); Korean Service Medal; United Nations Service Medal; Vietnam Service Medal; Vietnam Campaign Medal; Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Silver Star; Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palm; Combat Infantry Badge; and the Joint Chiefs of Staff Identification Badge.
He is survived by his loving wife, Judith K. Cairns, at their home in Satellite Beach, Florida. His sister, Eva L. Culbertson of Montlake Terrace, Washington, also survives him.
Colonel Culbertson will be laid to rest with full Military Honors at Arlington National Cemetery in the spring of 2013.
