David "Dave" Selwyn Huysman, II, 68, of Melbourne, passed away at home surrounded by his loving family on July 25, 2013. David was born on March 10, 1945 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to David Selwyn Huysman I and Elizabeth "Betty" McQuown Huysman.
He graduated from Edgewood High School and Carnegie Mellon University and spent his career as a highly respected civil engineer in Pittsburgh, Oak Ridge, Tennessee, Miami, Orlando and Melbourne, Florida. He was recently honored by Governor Rick Scott for his considerable contribution to the fire protection industry.
David is survived by his wife, Mary Ann Huysman of Melbourne; son, David Selwyn Huysman, III (Kristy), of Sanford; daughter, Dr. Mary Huysman of Atlanta; sister, Dr. Betsy Halden (Peter) of Melbourne; former wife, Cynthia Stone Huysman of Lake Mary; eight loving cousins; and by marriage, four children, six grandchildren and two great- grandchildren.
Services will be held at Eastminster Presbyterian Church, 106 North Riverside Drive, Indiatlantic, Florida 32903, on Thursday, August 1 at 10:30 am. Interment services will be held at Palm Cemetery at 1005 N. New York Ave., Winter Park, FL 32789, on Thursday, August 1 at 1:30 pm.
