Elmer W. Blankmann, 94, entered into eternal rest on August 3, 2013, surrounded by his family at home. Elmer now is dancing in heaven with his wife, Helen, who died the morning after their 50th wedding anniversary in 1999.

Elmer was born and raised in St. Louis, MO, and the oldest of four children, born to Anton and Maria Blankmann. He was a graduate of St. Louis University and proudly served in the 5th Army Air Corps with the 63rd Air Service Group during WWII in the Pacific Theatre.

Elmer relocated from Parkersburg, WV to Merritt Island, FL in 2006. He was a devoted Catholic attending daily mass at Divine Mercy Church.

Survivors include his brother, Robert B. Blankmann of St. Louis; his four children, Barbara Falck of Cape Canaveral, FL, Donna Blankmann-Alexander (Bill) of Merritt Island, Bill Blankmann of Charleston, WV, and Paul Blankmann of Tampa, FL; and four grandchildren: Susan and Brian Falck, Jennifer Jones (Joe) and Anthony Blankmann.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Elmer and Helen Blankmann Scholarship Fund, in care of the WVU-P Foundation, 300 Campus Drive, Parkersburg, WV 26104-9922.

Elmer's family gratefully thanks family and friends for their prayers and the many wonderful earthbound angels who comforted him in his final months and days, Father Farrell and Father Heslin, Ni's Acupuncture Center, Cape Canaveral Hospital, especially the amazing staff in the ER and 2nd Floor North, as well as, the VITAS Hospice staff for ensuring Elmer's peaceful passing.

Elmer's legacy will endure across time reflected in the acts of kindness and good deeds he shared with all those whose lives he touched. His eyes now are closed to this world, while his heart is open to all of eternity.

A memorial mass will be held at 11:00 AM, Thursday, August 8, 2013, at Divine Mercy Catholic Church in Merritt Island. You may sign Elmer's guestbook at www.beckman-williamson.com.
